JANUARY 2022 SCHOOL HOLIDAY WORKSHOPS

3-DAY SCREEN ACTING WORKSHOP FOR BEGINNERS

VENUE: CAMELOT, MOSMAN PARK

Over the course of 3 days, participants will take part in enjoyable exercises and activities that will help them learn foundational acting skills, including the difference between stage and screen acting techniques, observation and improvisation skills. They’ll also develop an understanding of character building, storytelling and emotions, and build confidence and communication skills along the way. To get a real feel for the craft of screen acting, participants will have the opportunity to create and perform short scenes to camera and view their work in class.

This workshop is suitable for 9-12 yr olds with little or no acting training, those who have some drama experience but wish to learn more specifically about screen acting, and also for those simply interested in some holiday fun while developing important life skills such as confidence, communication, focus and teamwork.

Your instructor is Jessica Hegarty. Jessica is a much loved instructor who has taught at Filmbites for the past 13 years, most recently focusing on the Intermediate and Advanced level classes. Jessica has appeared in numerous films and TV commercials and writes many of her class film scripts. Jessica is also studying youth work. Her years of experience, knowledge of the craft of screen acting and understanding of children will make this workshop ideal for any young person interested in exploring a career on the screen, or just wishing to develop some communication skills and confidence.

3-DAY MAKE A MOVIE WORKSHOP FOR BEGINNERS

VENUE: CAMELOT, MOSMAN PARK

Filmbites’ fun and educational 3 day Make-a-Movie workshop is especially for 9 to 12 yr olds interested in movies, acting or stories, or those just looking to do something new and creative.
Our young creators will devise a story idea with the group, learn about film equipment and how to use it, learn a few tips about the craft of screen acting, then jump right in and shoot a short film (approx. 5 minutes duration).
They can experience being script writer, director, cast and/or crew, depending on their interests.
To ensure everyone gets a go at all elements of the process, this workshop is limited to a maximum of 10.
The film will then be edited off-site and screened on the big screen in Camelot’s Indoor Theatre a few weeks later. Participants will also receive a copy of their film to keep by email-able link.

Your instructor will be local filmmaker and editor Tim Green. Tim is a graduate of Murdoch University’s film course, directed “Bodhi” which was selected for screening at WA’s Cinefest Oz film festival, and works regularly on local film productions, including Rams, I Met a Girl and Itch 2. As a long-term and much loved Filmbites instructor, Tim has vast experience guiding young people through the creative process, having facilitated, assisted or edited well over 100 student films!
